Can someone give me the dimensions of the rectangular metal piece that mounts to the center floorboard just behind the shifters and serves no apparent function? I am working on details for my halftrack and that metal piece shows up in a lot of original pictures. I have the holes in my floor board to mount it but am missing the piece. Should be easy enough to cut and bend.
Thanks

Tom,
I can take some photos and measurements of mine today and send them to you tomorrow. That bracket from what I was told is to hold a wooden grenade box in place. I've never seen a photo of any kind of the box though. Kevin Lockwood said he once seen one. Hope to see you at Tower Park. The Izzy track from Littlefield's collection will be their.

interesting, so the box was not bolted in place?

I was told that the wood box had groves that the channel sat in. Again, I've never seen one so I don't know.

I was told that it was a foot brace for the man sitting in the center seat to keep him from going through the windshield in a quick stop. That seemed a little more plausible to me. I have also seen pictures of a decontaminator bottle mounted on it. But as far as I know, no one really knows what the purpose of it was.

Found this picture also.

Hi Guys,
I'm needing help with my memory. What supports that rear rectangle piece in the middle of the vehicle. The pictures on this thread are great for the top. I am trying to fit the floor in and I feel I am missing something. Unfortunately, I have no notes or pictorial reference of this portion of taking the vehicle apart. Any additional pictures would be great so that I know what pieces to look for in my piles of parts;)!

Well I figured out part of it. The step up cross member that is under your legs just in front of the seat, was missing the vertical support that rests on the frame. This helps out a lot with the floor stability! I am still looking for the rear rectangle and any info on how it is mounted underneath.

The center square ties on to the rear bulk head. The front has a batten attached to it and the sides also have battens. I'll see if I can dig an old one I have out this weekend.

Thanks Don,
That seems to spark a memory. I'll look for that panel. When the floor was originally taken off to get to the trans, we had no plans of a frame up restoration!!! Thats why it was not documented.
