Title: M2A1 Antenna mount

Wondering what type of antenna mount I need for my M2A1 Autocar.  I believe there is a hole with two holes in the diamond plate under the two center seats, is this where the antenna mast is mounted?  and is there anyone reproducing one?  thanks, john

  The type of antenna base bracket and antenna mount is going to be largely dependent on the radio you install.  For the M2A1, refer to TM 11-2718.  Youshould be able to find an e-copy on the net until you can get a hard copy.

thank you.. I'm not planning on installing a radio in it, but a antenna and mount is just another detail on it that make them look great, without the cost of all the radio equipment..

John,
There are two types of mounts you could use depending on the radio you use. First, the floor plate. If you have an original M2A1 floor plate then you have one small hole and one larger C-notch on the passenger side. The small hole was used for an antenna on an M2 halftrack and discontinued on M2A1 conversion. The C-notch is for the rear pulpit mounting post that goes down to a re-enforced cross member. For the M2A1 you have two antenna mounting options, an MP-52 (used with a CH-74 cabinet for SCR-508 or SCR-608 radios) or a MP-54 which is used with most other radios including the before mentioned ones if the MP-52 is not available. The MP-54 is easier to find used, NOS and reproduction. One is on eBay right now. As for the MP-52, Don found a source in Holland. here is the link

I got my MP-54 from John at Midwest Military, I think he is still showing them in his parts section.

 I used the M-54 mount on mine because it looks good with my radio set, plus I think it looks better up on the perimeter rail, and they are much easier to find!
