i have disassembled many of the pedestal headlights from the cast iron mount and the black plastic connector almost never survives. i managed to save one and used it as a pattern to make more. even if you dont have the proper equipment you could probably do ok with a file and drill press. there is an oring used under this connector to take up any play that has an OD of .75 or 3/4". be sure to save the little copper contacts that slide into this from your old one.  i heard someone was making these out of teflon but i think the product at mcmastercarr.com is much better.

Hi all,

I've received the two black plastic connectors from Paul (thanks Paul) for the pedestal headlights on my M8.  I'm curious though as to what others have done for the electrical contacts that go in the plastic connector.   

I have some stop light connectors that I was going to adapt to use, by removing the connector and fitting it into the black plastic connector.  I'd need to open the holes out a little in the black plastic connector but I think this would work.  Before I go ahead with that I would be keen to hear other recommendations if anyone has any.

I turned mine on a lathe using brass stock. It only takes a few minutes each to make them and to drill a hole for the wire to be soldered into.

Is anybody out there still making those steel inserts for the pedestals?  Trying to start getting some parts together to get the wiring straightened out while she's laid up this winter.  Thanks,

Check with Paul Jacobs/superjeep. I think he was making them at one time. Good luck.
