i have been tinkering with reproducing the fender mounted headlights for quite a while.
if i can get enough people interested in a set of headlights i will reproduce these.
each step in the process takes some setup so doing many at a time is better.
also i don't want a bunch of these sitting on my shelf.
the price will be $200 each
as most of you know the WW2 harley motorcycles used the same style headlight.
the scout car used the exact headlight.
reproductions of the harley lights are available and this is what i have done to convert them to halftrack headlights.
i start with the all chrome headlight
remove the 4 base rivets and everything else so there is just the shell.
lightly sand blast the shell and ring so the paint will stick to it.
drill the hole in the back for the new plug then using special made dies, crimp the exact profile around the hole.
plug the square hole forward of the mounting stud that was used for harleys.
replace the 7/16 course thread carriage bolt with a longer 7/16 fine thread carriage bolt.
replace the rear grounding screw and the bezel screw because they are the wrong size and wrong head style.
install the 4 base rivets with a larger size and head diameter.
install the plug receptacle that has been reworked to match the original.
prime and paint
these will have the cycle ray marked lenses like the originals
