I'm rewiring my M2A1 and would like to confirm the location of the 6V blackout resistor. Mine is located on the top left front of the firewall but I've seen one mounted in the same location on the rear of the firewall. Which is correct? Is either location used? I can't find any other pictures or info on it. Right now I have the wire for it running out of the firewall with the rest of the wires but maybe it needs to stay inside with the tach light wire? Thanks for the clarificafion.

I have an Autocar M2 converted to M2A1. Mine was located on the rear of the firewall inside the cab. I have seen them in both locations.

Thanks Tom. Looks like it'd be easier to get to on the outside if it needs attention.

On my M2 the resistance is inside

I have noted four locations. Below in order of popularity:
1. On firewall extreme upper left (drivers side) in engine compt.
2. Same location except resistor is in crew compt.
3. On sloped surface under surge tank.
4. On coil box lid.
I have not been able to establish a pattern either by manuf. or model.
Perhaps those of you with original vehicles could post the make, model, and location of resistor remembering that not all half-tracs had one.

Thank you guys for the help. I thought if it was on the wrong side, now would be the time to fix it. I'll leave it where it is.
