Title: Temperature gauge fix?
Post by: 8683jb on April 09, 2017, 08:46:40 PM
I'm thinking of trying to save my temperature gauge. It may be too far gone but I think I want to dig into it a little bit and see if there's any hope (shouldn't cost more than twice what it'd take to just replace it!). The needle is completely missing and the capillary is broken off at the cylinder head but I think I can fix it if I can come up with the ether. Or maybe there's enough ether in starting fluid to do it? Has anyone had any luck with repairing the capillary?

Most gauge repair shops can fix the capillary but in the long run I would recommend calling Military Vehicle Supply and getting a nos assembly or better yet a nos complete French gauge cluster. They are identical to the US version except black instead of red.

Thanks Steve. The repair places I've called want more to fix one than they're worth. It would be enjoyable to bring this one back from the dead myself but I'll probably just buy an NOS one. It's not like there's not enough other stuff to work on!
