Title: craziest cow picking halftrack
Post by: steve-0 on January 15, 2011, 08:57:45 PM
im still working on getting this halftrack. the frame is no good. its been plated and bent.the contraption on the back is military, does anyone recognize it?
they used to use this for picking cows up when they would get stuck. the arms on the sides are connected across the front, you can pick something up in front of you and set it behind you.

Hey Steve, it looks like some sort of bridging equipment, originally mounted on a full tracked vehicle?

i was wondering if it was something like that. i sure wouldn't want to be in the drivers seat while swinging something overhead.

It would be interresting to restore that just the way it is. Inginuity at it's best. Looks like some good parts on it though.

this may be getting scraped. this was sold with a bunch of other stuff, the new owner wants $2500 for it.
there are a few good parts on it but the frame is twisted and plated. lots of damage.

What are you saving on it, just the drivetrain? Prob still has lots of good parts here and there. There is an M15 near me with a crane on the back, frame is cracked but he wants 2500 also. I'm sure it will get scrapped eventually.

we made a deal for $1600
i payed to much but im hoping the rear bed is heavy for scrap metal. i haven't gotten any responses to my post about selling the rear bed so im sure its going to scrap.
i think the engine is good, windshield frame, pedestal lights but they really worked over the frame with plates and a torch.

you mightpost pictures in the truck section of the G503. somebody might need it for a restoration. Maybe over on Steel soldiers. Maybe even bring it to Tower park?

Just some thoughts.

How did they get the drive line off center?

Looks like it weighed about 5 or 6,000#. That should help get a little payback out of the old girl.

BTW Nice old H80 you got there. Looks like she was a little lite in the steers in those pics. If you ever need parts for her I have a bunch of NOS stuff here.

this one has had a hard life. it looks like the frame was broken, bent and called bad names.  ;D

i could use a few things for the h80. lift cyl seals, tilt cyl seals, power steering pump.
its been a great lift.

I looked at the pics and it looked like the rails were still in alignment. So I wondered if somehow they got the diff. broke loose and re-installed off center or twisted.

I'm 99% sure I have all the seal kits, but I don't remember having any p/s pumps. If I remember right I even have 2 nos tilt cylinder rods if you need those too. Also may have a NOS? / rebuilt? lift cylinder depending on the length (height) of your cylinder.

it may be a combination of both. if i sight down the frame its bowed. there is also plating on both sides of the frame so i cant tell if the rear diff has been relocated.

i will send you a pm on the parts.
thanks
