Title: Bogie Wheel Retreads
Post by: Dinadin on February 28, 2011, 11:42:42 PM
I finally installed my bogie wheel retreads on the driver side of my halftrack.  Eventually I will install the passenger side.  I am just glad to get the new stuff installed.

The rest of my pictures of installing them are in this gallery.

I was hoping they would be that, but they are $90 to $100.  I was never able to get enough people interested at one time to get a really good discount on a bulk order.

They do look nice... job well done and not an easy one.

fyi.... I just purchased some NOS BF Goodrich bogies for spares and they cost me $125 each not $160.   The purchase was just made a few days back from Gary H.  I didn't get in on the group buy and figured I would get some extras for the future and praying I never need to use them.

thanks for the correction thundercat. i guess i got some bad info or maybe he was including shipping tax ect. the nos ones all came from oversees. i think there was about 3000 of them. Jaap from  Rietveld Auto Parts brought them over and sells them through gary and bret mullins.

Hey, no problem at all.  I just figured I would let guys knows.  Information sharing is key.  I am just crossing my fingers that I wont have to ever change a bogie wheel - ok, I just cursed myself.   :(

I think he contacted me about where I got mine done, but he didn't want to deal with a middle man, ie me.  He wanted to deal with the company directly, which I guess I cann't blame him.  It is a hell of a lot cheaper for him on shipping that is for sure.

I have another run of these in the works right now.  I should have roughly 60 getting retread and that will be about $82 each to be done.  Even with shipping to here and back to you that is still cheaper than NOS ones.  If you are interested let me know.

I need a set done but to save freight I'm going to check with a local fork lift wheel manufacturer first, they may not do recaps and may not have your good price. If I send a set to you do they need to go to St. Louis?
