Title: Removal of instrument cluster and speedometer
Post by: SpencerB on October 17, 2020, 08:47:42 PM
I am attempting to remove all gauges, switches, etc from my M3A1 dash.  The dash has not been removed and I hope I don’t have to go that route.  Everything has gone fairly well, but I cannot see well enough from under the dash to ses how the instrument cluster and speedometer Are held in.

Does anyone have advice or pictures of the rear of the dash showing how they are held on?

Thanks in advance

Spencer

There are 2 studs on the back of the speedo that have a nut on them. I believe it is 3/8. pull those off and the brackets holding the gauge should come off. you might have to tap on them a bit to free them up. Don't forget to unscrew the drive cable.

This might help

The dash is upside down as your looking at it.

Pulling the hood armor off that lays right in front of the windshield helps, and if you really want to make dash work easy, cut an access panel in the top of your dash box. Just make sure you do it in such a way you can close it up because water does get under that armor.
