What does the rest of the halftrack look like? Is it really an M16 frame with that serial number? A factory M16 will have 4 machined oval slots on top of the rear frame rails for the quad box to bolt to. When other long frame halftracks were converted to M16A1's these slots were torch cut.

It’s an original M-16. Looks like it was made by White. It’s interesting that it has a Diamond T plate.

My only idea is the original plate was lost and someone made that up for a replacement. The SP 'wording' is interesting.

Normally the nomenclature for the quad is Multiple Gun Motor Carriage rather than Gun Self Propelled is what I meant. Even the M3-75, T30 and T19 were all referred to as gun or howitzer motor carriages and not self propelled guns.
