I’m after some help with bolt sizes if anyone has an answer.
The ord 9 states for mounting the winch, bolts, qnty 6 x 1/2” x 1 3/4” long and qnty 2 x 1/2” x 2 1/4” long are required. Why is that? I thought perhaps a brace went to one of the mounting points but I don’t have anything like that.
Next, for mounting the drive worm housing and the bracket at the other end, qnty 4 x 5/8” x 2” long and qnty 4 x 5/8” x 2 1/4” long are required, I understand that there is an extra lock for the clutch lever on the one mounting point, so why are 4 longer Bolts Required and not 2?
Any ideas?

A couple of the bolts go through the winch armor.

Winch armour, this sounds like something I’m missing. I don’t suppose you have a photo of where it would fit?
-
This is the only thing on mine, believe it’s there to protect the winch gearbox
-
I’m missing that bit, but doesn’t it just bolt to the bumper and not the winch?
-
The rear of the winch guard has two holes.

I dont know why there are 4 heavy/long bolts listed. This one only has 2. It is an IH though. Whites are a little different.

That’s perfect, thanks!
Your photo also raises another question, the end of the angle iron is angled and not squared. All the photos I’ve seen of the Tulsa 18G show squared ends. The winch I have had angled ends and I assume (as I found it in the U.K.) it is also from an IH, the angle iron also has the manufacturer name Jones & Louhglin embossed on it. Could it be that the Whites had squared ends and the IH angled? I welded the ends back to square as 2 ends had been Oxy/acet cut for some other use.

I couldn’t say. These angles are new made.

Thanks Jesse.
Would you know if these braces for the front bumper, lower radiator armour should be straight? I think the winch rope has bent them but I’ve not seen any to know if they should be straight or not.
-
The rod section of those should be straight like the bottom one in the pic, but the ends will be angled to mate up flush with the mounting surfaces.

Thanks Jesse, I’ll set too and get these straightened up.
If you or anyone else hears of the winch armour/cover being for same, please keep in mind.

If I remember correctly, someone out in Halftrackland had the winch armor covers re-cast. Not sure how many were made. I’m sure originals are as rare as hens teeth.
