I saw this bracket on an M3A1 that had been converted from an M16A1, previously an M15A1. It has two square holes in the top with the three footman loops above and provides a mounting point for the passenger side gas/water can bracket.
What is it for/what goes in the two holes? There isn't enough room for headlights (plus, why would you mount spare headlights there?). Gas can spouts maybe?
Is it limited to just the M16 series or has anyone seen this bracket on other models?
I have a picture of it, I just haven't had time to upload it yet. Thanks, Tom

I have asked about that also. Two brothers I know have a similiar set up on their original M16. I think I either asked on here or the G503 about it and I think someone said it was for tools or something.
It would be cool to have a winter camoed halftrack, if it weren't for the fact that most events are when it is green out.

I believe it was for two spare/extra pick axe heads.

Here's a closer shot, showing the holes in the top:
I don't know if there's enough room for a couple of pick axe heads.

JC...sorry for hijacking your thread. Nice M16 btw.

Yes, the bracket is for 2 pick axe heads. I have that bracket with the pick axe heads installed on Liberty. I looked in my pictures of her and I don't have one that shows them very well. If you need a picture let me know and I will take one and post it up.
JC.. Snow camo would be easy! A little time with a couple of rattle cans for spots and you would be good to go.
BTW. Going to Findlay again this year? I will be in the same spot as last year so stop by if you come.

Thanks Steve...if you find a pic I'd be interested in seeing it.

My HT was converted to M16A1 at one time.

Hi all
I am a new member and a new halftrack owner. I have a M15a1 converted to a M16a1 and it has this bracket also. I have a different shovel bracket, it looks like it is made to hold 3 shovels, has any one seen this? Thanks.

Greg,
That was a modification done when they went through the rebuild process for Korea.
