Title: How to remove the speedometer needle?

I want to try the decal on the front of the speedometer, but don't want to wreck the needle.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the needle off?

I just pulled mine off very carefully with needle nose pliars - the gauge I have is an old faded one, so wasn't overly concerned about damaging since it'll need rebuilding but appeared to be just a friction fit onto the shaft. After I'd cleaned it up some (will replace at some point !) the needle just pushed back on.
