does anyone know where this armor plate goes? I thought it was one of the engine armor plates that goes on the frame rail beside the engine. I tried it there and the holes did not match on either side. The mounting brackets on the frame each have six holes and the plate only has 4. I cannot even find this number in the books, but several numbers that are close are all used in the engine compartment. I can post the measurements if anyone wants them and can figure out where this goes.

Maybe it's for a scout car??
-
I was wondering about that. unfortunately I dont have access to a scout car to check. The other interesting thing is that I can find plates H12, H13, H14 and H16 all for the halftrack just not this one. one other piece I also cannot find in the books is the oil pan armor. this H15 piece was found in a salvage yard with several halftracks. I did not see anything thay looked like a scout car. they used tracks in the yard so they kept them for parts. maybe if they had a scout car they scrapped it.

It is not the plate that goes in the engine compartment on the inside, just behind the front axle? The hole pattern and shape looks correct, but I don't know the actual plate number.

According to my manual H-15 is the engine armor plate for the left side on the halftrack. The four holes on the plate is correct. the brackets you are looking at with 6 holes are for the oil pan armor. Just ahead of the oil pan armor brackets are two brackets for the engine armor. If you need a photo I can get you one late Monday when I'm at the shop again.

Thanks for the info. I checked again and yes I was trying to bolt it to the engine oil pan armor mounts. I found the correct mounts right where they should be and it fits great. I will post the measurements as soon as I can get them. As this is the left piece I am hoping the other side is the same as I dont have that one.

Here are the measurements for the plate. All measurements are from the top, or right side
of the plate The hole measurements are to the center of each hole. The plate is 1/4 thick.
The holes are not countersunk.

Henry,
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these measurments! I have plenty of 1/4 inch steel plates
which I bought in USA with my HT, as all the stuff here is metric!
