Well guess it's time to fess up. I fell into deal on another halftrack. After the boss saw the pictures and the price she said "well you better buy it" Whoa, guess I better keep her ;D So I've named my new halftrack "Kathleen"

I'll post more pictures after she arrives! And so it begins again.

Tom,
What you don't know is that he has 2 and 1/2 other halftracks besides his new purchase and his M3. :o I'm running out of shop space. ;D Time for building number 3. ??? I hope not. All aside Don is one lucky sob and is great to have his company in my shop.

Okay here's a little more info on the new beast:
Stamped on Frame S/N M15A1-1374 Rebuilt into an M16A1 by Bowen-McLaughlin 3-53 Manufactures S/N 1374 Ord S/N 1374
Adding a note: found a steel tag on the bumper and it was stamped 40150091 Looks like that should be the hood number. According to the list looks she was built in 1943.
I will probably make her into an M3A1

I'm having trouble with one don and you starting on your second? Can't wait to see more pics

what happened to your rear hitch? ;D
i have all of those rear pieces you are missing. i built an extra set when i did my m16. i think they are the same.

Steve, someone put a new cross member in. Some welding has been done on the frame. I'll probably work on the front first then tackle the back. I'll keep that in mind! The boss is exacting the payback for the halftrack. She's got me gardening right now!

Don,
I am still shaking my head in amazement that you are taking on another half track so quick after finishing your last one. Not only would I have to get over the wife approval and financing hurdles to do another half track, I am not sure that I would have enough energy to take on another one even if I could get past the first two hurdles. Mine took me 2 years of steady work to get it to where it is today - during which time I abandoned all other projects and hobbies that I had going before I purchased it. My hat goes off to you! I think I will be one and done on the halftracks. Jeeps and 4x4 trucks are much more manageable restoration projects :)

Yeah no kidding. My next project will be a hand cart or cushman! :)

Here are some more pictures of the new machine. Looks like there was a crane on the back of it. Going to have to take that out.

It looks like that oil pan is going to take a little hammer and dolly work to straighten out ;D. Is it possible another m15 project?

Need lot of job

Well, thought I might update what is going to happen to the new HT project. Had a slight change of plans, actually several. First I was going to try to build a M21 MGC. Then I stumbled into to this

So an M16A2 it will be. Just got refurbed boogies back so hope to get going on this after April!

So picking unit numbers for the M16 was something I hadn’t thought about at all. The bumper numbers for Zelda was easy, my unit was a no brainer, the name Zelda was dropped in my lap and was appropiate.
The new track the name was an easy choice, Kathleen after the boss! Bumper numbers weren’t even on the menu. Then today I was restoring an old metal foot locker I inherited years ago putting on some new hinges, patching holes and such. So as I was sanding down the lid guess what shows up

Still not sure if it’s 203rd or 283rd both are actual units with the the 203rd attached the 7th Armored Division. The 283rd was a guard unit attached to the coast artillery. In Bridgeport Connecticut. So Providence has given me my bumper numbers!
