Title: Modern rear axle seals are air tight
Post by: Cleprechaun on August 04, 2020, 11:46:38 PM
An odd thing occurred while installing 380036a rear axle seals. Two days after installing both rear axle seals, I wanted to check the diff oil level. As I was unscrewing the plug, it nearly was blown out of my hand because of air pressure in the diff! The vent on top of the diff was clogged. I remembered that it had been harder to slide the last hub all the way on as if something was pushing back, something was, air. These seals work so well, they held air pressure in the axle housing for two days. $53 at NAPA, $16 - $30 on Amazon / EBay
