Oil pan skid plate (armor) mounting brackets
« on: June 23, 2015, 01:12:11 PM »
Does anyone know if the mounting brackets are the same on the M2 as on the M3? I'm referring to the brackets that bolt to the frame. There is a left and a right.

I also need an oil pan skid plate. It is not really armor is it?

The M2 and M3 are the same. Yes there is a left and a right frame bracket. The skid plate is 1/4 thick but I do not know if it is hardened like armor plate. I do have an extra set of frame brackets and one extra oil pan armor. I might be able to convince my wife to let me sell it.

Thanks for the info. The main reason I asked was because of the double thickness frame difference between m2 and m3 I thought there was a chance they were different. That would be great if you can get clearance from your wife to sell.  ;D

I have the frame brackets, but I'm in need of oil pan armor too. Does anyone have a sketch with dimensions? Thought I'd try to fabricate one. Thanks, Dale

Here are some pics I posted a while ago of the oil pan armor. I can try to get some measurements of the pan itself. Length, width, depth ect. It looks like it was stamped from one piece.

Henry

These are some pics of oil pan armor and some measurements. The sides are similar but different. The number of bolt holes and the amount of offset is different. Because of the different offset the pieces used to make each side are slightly different sizes too.

This is the side you need . The top measures 10 1/2 across.    The bottom measures 12 7/8 across.  The top to the bottom at right angles to the top and bottom measure 13 1/2 inches. The top bend is 7 inches down from the top.  The bottom bend is 1 1/4 inches from the bottom.       If you start at the upper right corner and use a square, the lower right corner is 3 3/4 offset.  The lower left corner is 16 3/4 left of the upper right.   I hope this helps.

Henry

Here you can see the offset.  The offst on the drivers side is 4 1/2 and the passenger side is 3 1/2 inches. when it is done and set upside down the pan should sit level.

There is one more hole on the left hand side.

Thanks Henry.  I'll take a shot at creating a couple of drawings first.  Let you know if I run into trouble.
