Winch Brake Lining
« on: May 06, 2016, 09:54:26 AM »
In order to have a local brake shop reline my winch brake, I ordered a 25 foot roll of
Woven Brake Lining 1 3/4" WIDE X 3/16" THICK.  Steve forwarded me a link on Ebay and someone wanted 25 bucks per foot.  I needed just under 2 feet to do the three winch pieces.  If you need some for your winch restoration PM me and and you can have what you need at cost for $5.25 a foot plus shipping.

The shop had to clamp the lining onto the brakes and then dip in boiling water 4x to get them to form correctly.

I understand the two brake shoes, but what is the piece on the left?

The piece on the left is on the outside attached to the dog gear lever (shift lever). It rubs on the outside of the drum to stop it from turning when the dog gear is disengaged.
