Steve,

Try some of the gauge restorers. I had talked to one a while ago, can't remember which one, they can make cables that look like the originals.

thanks for the reply. im hoping we can find one with a part number available somewhere but maybe we will just have to list length and end fitting type so they can be made somewhere.

About 2 years ago I went to my local truck parts supply house that used to make  cables for me years ago when we used them on semi trucks to get a cable made up for my HT tach. Well to make a long story short I came home with all of their left over stuff to make cables including their crimper. They also said that if I needed more pieces that they can still order it for me. So if someone would like to let me borrow an original tach and/ or speedo cable I can make them up.

i did alot of looking around for a cable that would interchange but didnt have any luck. the ones from Israel have big brass fittings and a grey plastic cover over the cable that makes them look bulky. i can send you some originals for the tach and spedo.

The main truck parts place I use found a place where I can get steel speedo cable casing. It comes in 100' rolls and isn't cheap, but I told them to get it coming. As soon as it get here I will take a look at it and hopefuly it looks like the original. It is steel outer that has the same od as a piece of original that came off my HT when I got it. They also found a place that can get me all of the ends I need. So I guess what I need from you guys is the length of the outer cable casing from end to end and the inner core with the same dimentions are needed, and also pics of the ends would also be helpful. The only end I have is on the outer casing that goes on the back of the speedo.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve, I understand the side tracked thing. Took me a while to remember to dig out the old chunk of cable (good thing I don't tend to throw to much "stuff" away) and then to remember to ask about it. Then the salesman forgot about it for a couple of weeks. Then finally the call from him after some reminders from me.

Should have plenty of inner core as I think I have about 750' of that. So it's just the ends that need to be ordered once I confirm the casing is correct.

Has anyone had any luck with this?  My outer casing for my speedometer is intact, but the inner cable was shot.  I got a universal cable but the connection to the transfer case is to small.  So I guess I am looking for a connection for the inner cable to the transfer case.

Rich, I have about half the stuff here now, and need to get the rest ordered and I will be able to make up complete new cables. I have all of the inner stuff here already, and working off Steve-o's cable I can make you up a new inner cable. But do me a favor and double check the od of your current housing to make sure I get you the right part. And no, I haven't figured out pricing yet and will get on that too.

Rich, Second thought. email me a pic of the end of the inner cable w/ dims and a pic of the outer cable w/ dims. As I may have a little adapter end that will fix your problem for about a buck.

Pics are of the tach cable, speedo cable uses all the same components it's just a little longer.
