Clell Ballard out of Fairfield, Idaho wrote the article.   It was Pomerelle Ski Area in southern Idaho.
I have passed this info onto a lady writing a history of the early ski areas in Idaho.   It was not uncommon to see an old Jimmy or Chev up on blocks running the early rope tows at the local ski areas.

i found an article on a halftrack i found in quincy ca.

quote from article=
http://www.skijohnsville.com/ski-johnsville-project/ski-johnsville-journal-2nd-edition/

Finally, how many people know that the initial access vehicle for the Plumas Eureka Ski Bowl was a decommissioned military half track? One can only imagine the adventure of being towed from the town of Johnsville to the old ski hill warming hut to begin a day of skiing. The history of that old half track, now retired and rusting west of Quincy near Gopher Hill, could be a story in and of itself.
