One more question, is there a ground wire on the generator or regulator not shown in schematics?

The generator is grounded to the engine, there is a wire in that loom that connects to the generator case and connects to the body of the regulator. Some of the regulators have rubber shock bushings then they use woven wire ground straps from the regulator to the regulator mount.

ah now that makes sense, so the armature is the 6g wire?
Also to POLARIZE GENERATOR momentarily connect battery terminal of regulator to the field terminal before starting the engine, does this mean just run a jump wire from  batt terminal to field?

Andy it's just a flash. Just touch a wire from the battery terminal in the regulator to the field terminal. That sets the polarity .
