Adding Vacuum Advance to the Distributor

This is an idea I had and think it will work. By using a vacuum advance from a 50's Chevy 6 cylinder engine and a little machining on the distributor housing this should work. I am interested in a rebuildable distributor to test this on. If anyone has a spare for sale I'm interested. The distributor shown is a later non-shielded distributor. What do you think?

What's the possibility of adapting an electronic ignition? I know the was at least one available for the power wagons.

I already did that. I'm using a  Pertronix 1168LS kit with a 40511 3.0 ohm coil. The coil is an oil filled coil. This last summer I found that both Don's and my coil leaked. I will be replacing mine with an epoxy filled coil when my engine is done. I will have to fine the partnumber for that. The install takes about 30 minutes and you never have to worry about points again. I've been using that setup for the last two year with no problems.
