I wanted to share a method for removing rusted fasteners that works extremely well. Taught to me by an old Newark N.J. fireman who was the head of the fire museum there, it works like this. use a air hammer with a bit that has been ground off flat and an air regulator to lower 90 psi shop air.( also works even better if the object has been coated several days in a row with the 50/50 mixture of acetone and ATF as mentioned before on this site.)
use the air hammer against the bolt or screw while trying to lightly turn . reduce the air pressure to a point where you can watch the rust "dance " but not do actual damage to the part. I have even taken rusted slotted screw out with this method and slotted screws are the hardest as the slot always gives way.use a cold chisel holde to hold and turn the slotted bit. I salvaged 5 frozen hinges this way by just beating on the barrels while trying to move the hinge plate. next ill try armor bolts and post if it works.
