M49 Carriage
« on: April 24, 2016, 11:14:03 AM »
I picked up an original WW2 M49 ring and carriage for my project from Rick at BMG.   The carriage has to be restored.  I started tearing down the carriage at night and got down to the Carriage screws and clamps where I started to worry that I was going to break something.  Called Rick and he sent me the following exploded view and parts list.

He also told me to reach out to Paul Greenstein in LA (found him on G503) who has rebuilt as well as reproduced multiple styles of carriages.

Would like to know what BMG is asking for the ring if you wouldn't mind.  I have a carriage, just need to get a ring at some point.  I have seen a couple listed over the last year, but still trying to understand what the going rate is.  PM if you would prefer.

Thanks,

Brad

When I see rings they typically go for $1000, +/-200 at times. I just saw a complete carriage at Tower Park go for $1400.

I will buy all the M49C rings you can find for $200. They are getting scarce out here. Typically run $1000 or more for a used one.

I can remember when they were $200.00 each for real in the early 90's. ;D

Wish my wallet had a time machine credit card.
