FT-284 design ??

ok uploaded some stuff to radionerds.
http://www.radionerds.com/index.php/FT-284
as you can see by the original pic. the back feet sit on the angle iron that holds the side armor to the fender armor.
you can see the corner foot pads are L shaped. and that there is a shim under one part.
you can also see all three legs have slots in the back to clear the side armor nuts. (but none on the ends)
the drawing clearly shows the shimmed part of the L foot

Interesting Brian, and thanks for the pictures and drawings. I haven't mounted mine yet, so there may be some modifications to my FT-284 before it goes in (it's a repro).

I also note that on page 56 of the m3 manual it calls out a 1/2 hole drilled in one of the feet, not sure what thats for ?
maybe to shove it all the way into the back corner on the passenger side ?

Hey guys, working on tracking some parts down to get the SCR-528 mounted in the M3 and the FT-284 seems to be one of those pieces that kind of comes and goes. Anybody know of a source for these? Did a bunch of digging on the G and Tom Campbell was the last guy that was making them but he hasn't returned any emails. Thanks for the help!!

I have an original FT-284. I can take it to a fabricator to replicate if you want to pay for it and shipping. I'm not sure what it will cost but should be under $500 I think. It will be a while before I can dig the mount out though.

Here are some photos of my original FT-284 radio stand. This stand is meant to be used on M3 and M2 based halftracks when mounting a radio on either side next to the fuel tank. A CH-74 cabinet would be mounted on top of this stand. On M2 based haltracks, when mounting a radio in the very rear against the back you would use the FT-285 stand and would also have to cut the lids for the seat storage lockers.
If I am to get these made I would have it drawn out in cad so the feet pieces could be cut and drilled out by CNC. The mail frame is angle stock pieces. a template would be made for drilling.
Let me know if interested. The more I make, the cheaper the cost.

Definitely interested but I'd be curious to see how many people are looking to have one made to see what we can do on the price. Keep me posted and worst case scenario, I'll take two hahaha.
