That appears to be a modern vin created by your state's motor vehicle dept. probably when a title was issued. The builders (white, autocar, etc) serial number will be on the drivers side front frame behind the shock mount. Then of course if you have an original data plate on the dash that will have the ordnance number as well as chassis number. The chassis number on the data plate should match the frame. The USA registration number might be stamped on the front bumper somewhere or on the bogie support housing.

If you did find that on your frame it may be possible you are mis-reading the first digit as an 8 but it would be a 2.

Well, I thought I had a White. It appears from the VIN, it is a Diamond. Did Diamond make  the engines. The engine is a White. Thanks, Rob

 Rob,
Yes that is a Diamond T frame stamping M32976. Does yours have a roller?
Autocar, Diamond T, and White produced half-tracs all ran the White 160AX engine. The IHC half-trac ran a IHC six-cylinder.
I am hopeful you may have a data plate but from your thread my guess is not so lucky.
I have repro Diamond T M3 main data plates if yours is missing.

 Rob,
Please email kplockwood@cox.net to place a order. Include your ship to address. My statement regarding the 8 being a 2 was referring to the 8xxxxx number you first posted. I thought perhaps you had found this number on your frame and while no half-tracs had a 8xxxxx range number, all White Motors tracs were stamped with a six digit number (2xxxxx) beginning with a 2. i.e. 259688
