Completed Halftrack
«

Well after around a year and a half I was able to recently bring my halftrack home. We were working on it in St. Louis since there were more guys up there to help with it. I had a great group of several guys that were invaluable on this project. The Halftrack started out it's life a White M16 delivered in August 1943 but as you can see in the following pictures it was restored a M3.
The last picture you can see the "power steering" that came with it it makes turning a breeze! There is still things to be done but the large part is finally completed!

Nice!! What a clean job! Now you get to start the fun part of wearing it out. As rapidly as I'm breaking down, I might have to look into that power steering mod for mine.

What a great looking halftrack!! You did a fantastic job.
The power steering setup was made by Southern Parts. Here is a link to a post I made about it

. I'm hoping to recreate this set up for mine in the future.

Thanks for all the kind comments. It truly means a lot coming from the knowledgable Members on this Forum. The restoration was at the same time an incredibly frustrating and exhilarating project. It was with great pride another one was saved from an existence stuck in a barn for years. I was just thankful it was UNDER a roof though and not sitting out in the weather!! Of course a restoration is never "done" but at least it is mostly completed.
Steve, thanks for clarifying the power steering Mod on my halftrack. It is really amazing how EASY it is to turn/steer. I can actually turn it with two fingers! After driving my friend's Halftrack I REALLY appreciate this Mod! I was told by several Halftrack guys that it had come from Southern Parts. Interestingly, The Ranch I purchased the Halftrack from stated they had purchased it in 1995 at a place in Oklahoma with the Mod already on there. He couldn't remember the name but he said the place had at least a couple dozen halftracks at the time of purchase.

Update; I recently put on the Mine Racks that I got back in the Winter. They were excellently produced by our very own Darth Kitten here on Halftrackinfo! I think they turned out really well!
Here they are with "gear" loaded up.

Those look great!! You can get a couple of beers in each of those 30 cal. cans, thus making mine racks an absolute necessity.
