What are these brackets for?

There are two on each side and I have no idea what they are for.  I can't remember seeing any pictures that show these clearly nor of any attachments shown.  I have a couple of ideas, but really don't know.

They hold the engine side armor panels

Thanks for the quick replies!

So this leads to another question, where does the oil pan armor bolt on?  I was thinking that this might have been one of the possible areas.

Interesting I have heard of the style with the hole in it but have never seen one.
