New Horns vs Original
« on: March 10, 2018, 12:19:14 PM »
Thanks to a tip from Steve a couple of years ago , I picked up a set of new manufactured horns from NOS Locators
"Pair LUCAS Style Horns Bugeye Jag MGTD MGA TR2-4A SP250"  (see Steve's post under "New After Market Horns")

I installed them on the HT as I worked my way thru the restoration.  Unfortunately, the 'debris screens" will not fit over the new manufactured horns - there is a slight difference in the shape.  I decided to restore an original set.  There is a difference in sound.  Here is a video of the new manufactured horns on my work bench with the power applied.  I will post a video of the testing of the original horns to show the difference between the sets later today.

I ended up taking the guts out of the lucus horns and installed them in the original horns.

Great idea Don.  Here is the video of the original horns installed. There is a slight difference in sound.  Disregard the non standard horn button.  At the time I couldn’t find an original and really liked this White button I picked up from Rod Shaver....
