Rubber boot on carb
« on: October 27, 2018, 04:10:45 PM »
What are all of you using to replace the rubber boot that slips over the accelerator pump shaft?  I bought my rebuild kit from JR Parts primarily because the rubber boot was shown as part of the kit.  The kit came without the boot and after speaking to Jillian at JR Parts she said they were no longer available.  She was nice about it and said they were trying to get more fabricated but it might be a long time until they were available.  She offered to buy the kit back, but there was no mention of covering the shipping and, at that point, I didn't want to mess with it.  When this happened a couple of months ago she said she would replace the picture.

Be advised that as of today the picture continues to show that rubber boot.  I just don't want someone else to have the same failed expectations I had.

So, again, what is being used as a replacement?  Any ideas?

I got my kit from either Then & Now Automotive or Daytona Parts Co., I don’t recall which, but it came with the boot and was a little over 50 bucks about a year ago. You might check with them. Also check with Kevin Lockwood & Rod Shaver for NOS kits.

Corey,

Did you get hold of a new boot! Mine failed today thankfully after the Memorial Day parade was over.  I had the carb professionally rebuilt a few years ago and i was suprised how thin it was and that it failed so soon.

Thanks,

Paul

Mikes carburetor parts. They’re actually for a Toyota.

Wait, is this for real?   :o  I can't believe someone finally found some of these!  I've been looking everywhere! I currently have a couple of washers of different sizes sitting on there.  Do you have to buy them by the bag or can you just get one?

Wow!

Thanks!

It fits perfectly and takes a minute to install.
