New halftrack, Cool Cat

So a few weeks ago I bought myself a halftrack, it is a m3 probably converted to m3a1
Here are some pictures of it, let me know what you think of it!

Welcome to the site!  There are Lots of guys here that are more than happy to answer all your questions.  Don't hesitate to ask as we can save you a lot of problems we encountered.  You won't have to reinvent the wheel so to speak! 

The fact your Track has the original cab forward armor, excellent bumper, bulkheads, original floor and track armor is HUGE!!  The Tach, Speedometer, and gauge cluster are invaluable!!  There are people that can restore them to like NEW in appearance and function!!  The more complete your project is at the beginnings saves you tremendous amounts of money and time.

Take your time and do it right and when finished you will have an incredible Vehicle!

Maybe the bed was from another truck?  Or the windshield.  Because the windshield shows that it was an A1.

I don't know the answer to that but the front floor plate in the bed is for the pedestal mount, not the ring mount.

Yeah it could be indeed but I'm probably going to rebuild it into a m3a1

That is a very nice looking track .. is that the original armor on the trailer? Nice looking original weapons carrier in ggd background.  What year is your Dodge?

So this is the work I did in the past couple of months, the front is apart now and the front section of the chassis has been sandblasted and a rusted place in the frame has been replaced. It has been primed and painted in OD. The engine that was in the halftrack was bored .60 over so is was at the end or it needed to be sleeved. I found 2 used engine blocks that are in overall good condition I took one apart and it is now in the machine shop to be bored to .40 and have the crank grinded. The transfer case and transmission are torn apart to, I just need to check what bearings I need because some of them just had bearing balls missing. The tooth of them are all in excellent condition! Next job is to take the rear bed of and begin on the frame and drivetrain. I couldn't do it all at once because of the lack of space back then. The rear bed isn't in the best condition but I got a rear bed so I'm happy   also I found the holes for the m3 and m3a1 version I think? if someone can confirm this? overall good progress and I keep going on!
