Halftrack Exhaust Manifolds
« on: December 06, 2020, 08:17:53 PM »
I have been looking into making 160AX exhaust and intake manifolds for a couple reasons.  One NOS manifolds are nearly impossible to find now days and two because what is available for what ever reason the cast iron is prone to cracking even NOS ones after running them abit.  My question is, if I was to make a short run of exhaust and intake manifolds, who would be interested in brand new, extremely high quality cast and machined 100% USA made manifolds? I have a foundry and machiner who would like to make them.  Purchase price would be an estimated $1600-1750 per manifold (so double it for a complete set).   Yes they are pricey but the amount of engineering for the mold, the casting itself in quality cast iron so it doesn't crack like the originals, and the final machining costs, makes them high.  But I would stand behind the quality and take care of any issues customers had.  I've seen complete exhaust manifolds go for $1350+ so to make them brand new and with better iron might be the way to go. Please let me know what you think!
