thats a great looking halftrack. i just picked up one of those french rebuild engines. exactly the same except some rats chewed into the plug wires.

Great looking track and that engine wow...where did you get engine like that?  That would look good sitting in clerance...

I was trying to buy this last fall, and i know it was for sale for a year before that. Owner kept changing his mind. Finally he contacted me a few weeks ago asking if i was still interested. In the end i got it and the engine for 9gs

now you are going to have to name your halftrack collene   it looks like there is a picture of collene further back on the halftrack.
does it still have the data plate? it looks like you may have an m2 halftrack that was never converted to an A1. when they converted them they modified the front canvas attachment strip that runs the length of the top section of windshield armor. also if it was converted they would stamp the hood number in the right side bogie wheel cast iron mount. what kind of restoration are you going to do?

LOL, omg the pressure. I just got it friday, and havnt really had to much time to play. So far there was a data plate, but no serial number, but i think ord num was 533. Serial number on frame was 272422, so i assume white? Under the collene, i can see a faint "debbie" The number on the hood mystifies me, i havnt seen anything with ord number starting with 50. I will look for stamp on boogie mount today and report back. I hate to say, but im totally illiterate on these,so a ton of questions comming!

Hey Steve, ok, looked at it. It does have the full length strip across top of windshield, and on the back side of the bogie cast iron mount has the number 5619 stamped 3 times close to each other.

On the data tag, it has 533 stamped for the ordinance number, but cant read serial number, so maybe 533 was ord num when it was m2, and 5619 after refit? or data tag is wrong for mine?

Hey Steve, data plate only says US Army ordinance along the top, no mention of m2 or m2a1. The rest is the same though with speed/rpm etc. Cannot read serial number, ord number is 533

i have never seen a data plate that didn't list the model. can you post a pic?

I should also point out it has the early fender lights, and it looks like the fenders have never been off

i have never seen one like that.
you could build it as an m2 or an m2a1. the skate rails are about impossible to find for the m2 so most go with the m2a1 that uses a perimeter rail and pulpit.
