History of the M16 Halftrack
The M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage, better known as the M16 halftrack was an self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon built during the Second World War. It was built on an earlier version of the M13, that was based on the M3 halftrack chassis. They were built by the White Motor Company from May 1943 to March 1944, they built 2,877 of these vehicles in total. The M16 was equipped with 4, .50 caliber M2 Browing machine guns in an M45 Quadmount.
The M16 was widely used by allied troops on all fronts, it was nicknamed the “Meat Chopper” because it was effectiveness against low-flying aircraft and infantry. After the Second World War it was also used in the Korean War, but primarily in a ground-supporting role. It was put out of service by the U.S. Army in 1954.

About this M16 halftrack
This M16 was found in the Netherlands, the history of this vehicle is sadly unknown. The body is still in a good condition and could be perfectly used for a restauration! It is a unique vehicle and when restored it would be an eye-catcher at events! Needs a lot of work but definitely worth it.
