Towing a half track ??

I need to bring my HT home in the spring and I need to tow it about 15 miles.  I do have a M819 wrecker.
Can I pick up the front end, stick it in neutral and let the tracks roll for that many miles ? ? ?

that should be fine. you will want to drain any water in the trans/transfer and the rear diff and check the oil level. may want to shoot some grease in the boggie wheels.

If possable I would lift the rear and tow it that way with the steering wheel held by a strap. Eddy

We towed my parts halftrack from the rear. I would hate for the tracks to come apart and hit something.
Also, I read some where years ago that they were thinking during WWII of making alot of the heavy wreakers just to tow the halftracks from battle to battle so they could save on the rubber tracks, but in the end they noticed that wreakers cost more than tracks.
