Pressure plate and heat cracks
« on: July 29, 2012, 08:21:48 AM »
I finally got around to the pressure plate and when I cleaned it off there there where some hair line heat cracks on two areas in the pressure plate. Is it scrap or does it need some machining?thanks

Not that unusual to find heat checks, someone must have slipped the clutch a lot. Do you have a winch? May account for the slipping or just a bad driver. I'd take it to a good automotive machine shop and have them evaluate it. Besides if you have it out you may as well have it machined your there. They can make sure it's not warped too.

Dons right on the money. Minor cracks are not usually an issue. I see it a lot in the automotive word. Have a machine shop evaluate and resurface
