Leaking water pump
« on: November 02, 2010, 05:13:28 PM »
Hello,
Just reinstalled my rebuilt motor in our M2A1 project. The water pump was NOS when installed 1 1/2 yrs ago during the rebuild. Originally let the  motor run in for awhile before pulling from the frame and set aside for 1 1/2 yr. So now that the frame is complete and motor reinstalled and the water pump is leaking at the front shaft seal behind the pulley. Before start up the coolant was added several days before starting with out any leaks.
Is there and chance this is normal from sitting and will stop leaking or do I need to face the reality of installing another water pump?

Thanks, Karl

i dont have an answer to your question but thats a nice looking restoration. i see you are using the original coil holder which i think was off the later model halftrack engines with the screw in freeze plugs. the blocks with the screw in freeze plugs dont have a place to bolt the ground strap so they incorporated it into the coil holder. im currently restoring 2 m16 halftracks and plan on using the same holder. looks great!!

Hello
When the engines are still more that is normal.
My tip to solve the fan belt and rotate each week
then the pump will close
