I'm pretty sure I saw a figure in one of my half-track books, I'll dig through again and see if I can find it,I should know this because I get asked enough when ever I take it out, three questions almost always heard, how much does it weigh? what's it worth? And how much did Uncle Sam pay for them?

Did a little checking. The average price of a car in the 1940's was about $800. You could get a 40 Cadillac sedan for $1745.
