Wondering if anyone has come across a source for parts for halftrack generator. I know that it is still possible to buy NOS generators but would like to try and rebuild my old one as it is in still pretty good condition and I don't want to see it relegated to the scrap pile.
Mine would only need new brushes and maybe new coils as the fabric covering has deteriorated.
I have been in contact with one company but have yet to hear back from them.
Scott.

Hi Scott it should be possible to get parts for your generator I think. I rebuild generators for a living and have a few companies that supply me with parts. you may want to replace the bearings while you are at it. look up WAGNER, and try du boise, for the brushes if they don't have them they may be able to steer you in the right direction. As far as the field winding's go you can re wrap them yourself if careful not to distort the shape of the coil. They sell cloth field winding tape. after winding the field coils spray them with insulating varnish. careful not to break the little leads coming out of the fields. I think Roark is also one of my suppliers but I will have to get to the shop to be sure. Generators are easy to rebuild. The only hard part is getting the pole shoe screws to come out you may have to get an impact screwdriver thing. I have a press that holds the screwdriver bit hard against the head of the screw but is is a very old machine and I don't know where you could get one of these.. If you have any questions you can PM me. Good luck, Tim
