Title: Volute Spring removal
Post by: Darth_Kitten on January 01, 2015, 11:00:11 PM
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to get the volute springs off of my crab assemblies. Do they just press on to the pivot?
Mine are pretty rusted, so they're stuck.
Should I apply some heat to them?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark yes they just sit on the cross bar. Heat would be your best bet. Should be able to punch right down through middle of the spring. Careful not to bugger up the threads when you do.

Thanks Don!
I'll give them a good soak first!

try and remove them without heat.
if you use heat on the spring it won't spring anymore.

they do not press on the assembles… they just sit there like don mentioned.

Try some taps with a small sledge hammer to loosen them up. They should be loose on the mount.
