Title: interesting modification
Post by: HenryVIII on January 23, 2015, 08:47:06 PM
Looks like I found a solution to the high price of tracks. I have seen pictures of these before but not info on them. I just thought it was kind of interesting.

I'll have to hang onto a rear bogie set from one of the CCKW's that I parted out, then if I ever break a track I could convert it to this, would be interesting to see a picture,I have seen plenty of half-tracks converted to single rear axles but never with two.

I wonder if the frame rails are the same  as a White truck. If so this would be a really simple mod to do. Be a grate way to participate in long distance convoys.

I had a friend with the rear section of a half-track, he wanted to mate it with the front end of a CCKW,I measured the rail widths and they are the same, I think frame widths were fairly standard.

This picture is on this site under a different post . It is similar but a little different. This is the one I was thinking of.

There you go, if you have an extra cab and chassis and can't afford tracks and the rear armor you could build one of those, and apparently it was actually done during WW2 so it's "proper"!
