Title: Hydro vac air filter oil?
Post by: yd328 on February 13, 2015, 05:53:41 PM
I am putting the air filter back together and the TM says to use light motor oil, any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks Gary

Any 30 weight will work.

The engine oilbath air filter is suppose to use the same viscosity oil as the engine, I use 30 because I only run mine in the summer.  The hydrovac air filter on my halftrack, which is located behind the voltage regulator uses horse hair for the filter media. I took apart 3 of them just to make sure. So when a buddy of mine trimmed his horses tail he saved some for me and when I put mine back together I had a new filter element. tail or main works best.

I will use the 30. I will clean as the tm states, which I believe is using mineral spirits. If I have  to replace the element there's a few horse farms around. ;)
