Did the front frame crossmember on winch model halftracks have a half moon shaped cutout for the winch driveshaft to pass thru?
-
Mine didnt, And it was all original, no notch at all for drive-shaft. On the armor plate where the drive-shaft goes thru, there are 4 what look like bolt holes, anyone know why? I figured a bearing to center shaft but never seen one

There is a plate that bolts to the front frame cross member. On this plate there is a large hole where the winch drive shaft goes through surrounded by four small holes for bolts. On roller models there is a square plate that covers this hole held in place by four bolts. On some tracks the winch drive shaft hole is elongated if some other winch or device is put in its place, not original of course.

Ah, i didnt realize they used the same lower rad armor plate for winch and roller. Makes sence

Thanks guys I thought I was about to make an oopsie so wanted to be sure to get it correct.

The 4 bolt holes around the driveshaft hole it is for bolting a small armor plate over the hole. This was so the same armor plate can be used with or without the winch.
