Does anyone know what the difference between the transmission/transfercase in the White halftrack vs. International halftrack? The White transmission model number is 3641 and the International transmission model number is 1856. My guess is the cases are the same but the gears are different. The white HT uses 8.25 X 20 tires and International uses 9.00 X 20 tires. The White HT uses Timkin axles and International uses their own. Any ideas?

My guess is difference in input shaft or something related to engine bell housing mounting.
The diffs make up for the larger tire size...... IH 7.16 compared to 6.8 to 1 White.
We should look at our respective part #'s and find this out, I've always ??? myself..

As the bell housing and clutch arm are obviously different I won't list.
The transmission case is not serviced and has no number.
Aside from some bolts, springs, screws, bearings and other little bits with G-147 numbers, all the major internal IH transmission parts are listed G-102.
EXCEPT FOR.............
COVER, transmission mainshaft front bearing
GEAR, transmission reverse idler, with bushing
LEVER, transmission main shift
ROD, transmission reverse speed shift fork guide
The front bearing cover is probably the biggest deal but could likely be swapped out if it won't work in a White. I don't have a loose transmission to check dimensions.
The reverse shift rod is G-102 but has a G-147 guide, I don't think that would cause a White shift lever to not work. (That's if the levers are different enough to require swapping)

What about the gears in the transfer case? That is where I suspect the difference is.

Most parts, shifting mechanism and all major gears in IH transfer case are G-102
A couple seal caps bearings, little parts and screws are G-147.
These are the significantly different G-147 parts in T-case......
FLANGE, transfer case front axle propeller shaft companion with guard
GEAR, speedometer drive
BEARING, transfer case intermediate shaft underdrive gear (package of 106).....bearings probably same as G-102....don't drop them on the floor ;D
BEARING, transfer case front drive shaft gear (package of 106)....see above ;)
BEARING, transfer case mainshaft rear ball
FLANGE, companion transfer case rear axle propeller shaft, with guard

You're welcome.
