Is there a correct strap for the jerry cans and pioneer tools. I am not sure if I should use leather or webbing. If I used webbing I would assume it would be green and not black. Also what type of buckles or fasteners are correct for WW2 era.
By looking at the footman loop sizes and jerry can holder slots it looks like the jerry cans are 1-1/2 inch and the tools are 1 or 1-1/4 inch wide.

The tool straps are leather, they show up on EBAY now and again. I bought my fuel can straps from SOS MV. They also have cargo straps also.

Hayes otupolik has 13' x 1 1/4 natural leather straps for $12.50. Post war, need some leather oil. Mine had a few small stains but cleaned up ok

I got all my straps from Weebee Webbing. If he doesn't have it he can make it. He also carries all the seat cushions for the halftrack.

David Yamulla no longer has the leather straps last i checked.
he sent me a couple for free in my last order because they where at the bottom of the bin and moisture had rotted the threads.

I did not know that. It's been a few years since I got mine from him…I guess they were in higher demand than I thought.
