thanks for the help

Scott,
Any luck on the fabrication of this ring?
Thanks!

I have an original 6 inch ring I'd sell. It's in Florida.

What is the correct ring configuration on an M16A2?c
Thanks

10 "and 12" to turn completly without hitting fold down armor now in up position with rear door

If it is an M16A2 it would have fold downs. So You will need the short 6" ring in place of the 10" I believe.
-
M16A2 has the armor fixed so it no longer folds.
-
M16 had 6 "and 10"
M16a1 and m16a2 had 10 "and 12 "

I had forgotten this although I seem to call a M16A2 rear door I had that folded? Hmmm?

I had one of those plus the rest of the rear wall. They actually cut the rear door out out of the original back piece and left the hinge on top to hold it up I suppose. The hinge holes on the door were made with a torch. Both rear corners were bolted upright with angle iron in the corners. I suppose the upper part of the door could still fold down but with either side fixed it would not do any good.

Kevin my original A2 has the armor locked in the up position with the addition of the extra ring. No reason to fold it down because of the additional height of the turret. When they cut the door into the rear the left the original fold down armor in place except for the middle portion that disappeared with the new door.
