I have several broken and want to replace them all. Has anyone found a good source? I would think there would be one from a late model tranny from something that would work. Found a spring supplier that has one that fits but at $8 each thought there may be a better source, maybe not.

Are you talking about the transmission or transfer case. I haven't found any yet for the transfer case, they are 7/16 od. The transmission ones are 3/8 od.

Nice find, let us know how they work out. I was considering these from McMaster. http://www.mcmaster.com/#9657k305/=12a94qh (http://www.mcmaster.com/#9657k305/=12a94qh)

Put then in today, with the tranny sitting on the floor shifting seems a little stiff but I think bolted in with oil and a few miles it will be just fine.

Where did you end up getting the springs from? I still have to find one for the transfer case. The 7/16 od and wire size seems hard to come by. I'm sure there's an application out there somewhere that has them.

I got the springs from a local guy the works on a lot of Ford tractors, he had them in stock. Any New Holland dealer (they bought Ford) will have them or can get them. Or Goggle the part # I listed and you can get them from most any after market Ford tractor parts suppler.
The local truck shop had bigger detent springs from an Eaton tranny that I think would work for the transfer case but I decided to use my old ones as it will be rarely shifted.
