Title: radio suppression kit for non shielded ignition engines
Post by: steve1973 on August 30, 2016, 01:20:20 AM: I got the kit a while back ant thought it was a bond strap kit. It did have a few straps but the kit had a new wire harness for the generator, condensers and star washers. Here are the instructions for the kit. You can use this to make up a kit for your self.

Another kit I got is to convert the shielded ignition over to a radio suppressed ignition system with the use of resistors in the spark plug ends. Here is a photo of that kit. Sorry, no instructions on this one.

Did you notice on pg3 and pg4 that the diagram shows the "rain gutter" installed under the hinge seam between the top and side hood panels? First time I've seen this somewhere besides in photographs. Now it's documented!

Post by: steve1973 on September 01, 2016, 09:28:43 AM: I did check this. I believe it is to replace the engine with shielded ignition with one with out shielded ignition. According to ORD 9 supply catalog E-3832 is the engine with the radio shielding system and engine E-8450 has the filter and bond straps for radio noise suppression.

Post by: steve1973 on June 24, 2024, 08:49:54 PM: I measured some on my halftrack and this is what I have.
Top of engine head to firewall - 1" wide by 12" long with a 9/16" hole on each end.
Hood bond straps - 1" wide by 10.5" long with a 9/16" hole on each end. Need 4 straps

In the kit above I dug mine out and measured the best I could without unwrapping it so I don't have hole size but guess they are for 9/16" hole.

2 straps at 3/4" wide by 5" long
2 straps at 1" wide by 10" long
4 straps at 3/4" wide by 12.5" long

I will post some photos when I can.
