I have a 42 Autocar, Does anyone know how to plumb for an under dash heater? I'm not seeing any places for an outlet or inlet for the water lines. Any help or photos would be greatly appreciated. Jay

Jay,
I have a manual for installation at home...I'll take a look after work and get back with you.

Okay, so the manual I have turns out to be for the powerplant heater. While it does provide some heated air to the cab, it's main function is to heat the critical components of the engine and transmission prior to start in cold weather conditions. This is one of the accessories/modifications developed for use during the Korean War (arctic/winterization kit) and involves some pretty intrusive installation modifications (re-arranging the location of items in the engine compartment, adding brackets, cutting holes, etc). Not what I think you are looking for. I didn't find anything in the Shop Manual...maybe someone else who knows more can chime in.

Hi Jay,
On the driver's side of the engine on the oil cooler their is a round boss with a pipe plug in it, that is the return for the heater. On top of the cylinder head between spark plug 4 and 5 is a plug adaptor and plug. this is where a 90 degree elbow on/off valve is for the heater. If you look carefully in TM 9-1707A at some of the engine compartment photos you can see these lines for the heater. I have some photos of an actual set up but am unable to get them to load on the G503 albums site. I will keep trying.
