Title: Blackout light resistor upgrade
Post by: steve1973 on March 29, 2017, 04:48:51 AM
Working on my wiring I went to clean up my blackout light resistor assembly and the resistor fell apart. I had a NOS one and was in similar condition so I did an upgrade. I used a modern resistor that is sold by Summit and other vendors. It will reduce voltage from 12V to 6V up to 10 amps. This is advertised to use for 6V heater motors. I simply removed the old resistor, made a tray to mount the new resistor and put the assembly back together.

Looks good Steve.  I'm not far enough along to know much about the BO lights!  Is this because they are 6v?

Steve,
What was the source for your original?  Can you post the details of the replacement you used?

Not to steal your post.   Great upgrade.     Peter debella jeep parts has the original in box still
